Every year on Halloween, Dave and I make this chili. We started our first year of marriage, when my Mom sent us a Halloween care package to Maryland. It was so good we've continued the tradition every year. It changes a bit year to year. The "meat" can vary depending on what sounds good or what we have on hand, and the spices always change a bit depending on our tastes that night.

Read MoreIn partnership with Zappos I styled my new Paige jeans and Freebird boots with some of my favorite Fall peices. Fall is my favorite time of year for getting dressed. I love breaking out my boots and scarves more than anything (I'm an accessories girl), and getting to layer up without all the bulky mess of thick sweaters and heavy coats. Can you tell winter is my least favorite?
Zappos sent me these gorgeous Freebird Quebec boots and my very first pair of designer jeans by Paige denim and now I'm even more excited to create fun outfits during my favorite season! I was so impressed by Zappos customer service, I had a question about the size I should order for my boots and the woman I talked to was so sweet and helpful. She searched through all of the customer reviews and any notes she had on file to make sure I ordered the right size. Mine turned out to fit perfectly, but just in case they also offer a 365 return policy.
I was also extremely impressed with Zappos shipping. It's no secret that things take forever and a day to get to Alaska, even longer when you're basically on an island like Juneau. My boots got here faster than anything I've ordered online so far and the jeans were right behind them. Which was nice, for me and for Dave, since I was so pumped to get them I would have been waiting at the door every day until they came.

The jeans are the same Paige flares in both outfits, but in the first they're tucked into my boots. You're pretty much going to have to pry these things off me, I do love them so. Plus, I can't even begin to tell you guys how long and hard I've searched for the perfect over-the-knee boots. I saw some on someone a year ago, and have since scoured the internet for something similar. Everything I found was either not what I wanted or not in my price range. These Freebird Quebec Boots were so worth the wait.
