David Owens Live ↠ Midnight Sun Cafe, Anchorage.

The day after I arrived in Anchorage, Dave and I headed downtown so he could show me around my new city. I knew as soon as we passed Midnight Sun Cafe that it was our type of place and we popped inside to see about Dave playing live music there.

He played his first show at Midnight Sun Cafe this past Sunday and we had a lot of fun with the show, they even offered us some deliciously gooey cookies that we couldn't turn down. We loved getting to meet a fellow blogger and her hubby, they were both so sweet and I can't wait to get coffee with her soon and chat just the two of us.

For those of you that are in Anchorage, or those plan on making a trip, I would definitely recommend stopping in Midnight Sun Cafe and grabbing a sandwich and some coffee (and a cookie, duh). Their "Toasted Italian Vegetable Goddess" sandwich was delicious.

Places to Visit near Anchorage ↠ Hatcher Pass.

Hatcher Pass is located in the Talkeetna Mountains here in Alaska, it's about 1 1/2 hours north of Anchorage, near Palmer and Wasilla. Dave and I had been planning on taking a drive up to Hatcher Pass this past weekend, but we decided last minute (again) to go Saturday night instead of Sunday. Thank goodness for Alaska's midnight sun in the summer...

I can't really describe what it's like driving up Hatcher Pass, through the Talkeetna Mountains, I'm hoping my pictures will do it the justice it deserves. It's like another world up there. Magical is the first word that came to mind when we arrived. I'm pretty sure Dave and I didn't talk much throughout the drive, we were both in such awe of the beauty around us. That, and I was too busy holding the "oh shiz" handle in the jeep and keeping an eye out for bears and moose, because I haven't seen either yet and I thought what better time than while I'm in the car and not out hiking the trails.

We want to make another trip up to Hatcher Pass soon and hike next time. This will definitely be a spot we'll bring any visitors that come to stay with us, it's too gorgeous not to share.
