I have so many pictures from this past summer that I never shared and I wanted to post a few of my top favorites. We’re so excited about fall, our favorite season in this house, so this is my way of saying so long summer! Iris has grown so much in the past few months and we had a lot of fun adventures, but we’re looking forward to cooler temperatures and all of our fall activities too.

I think my favorite summer adventure was taking Iris to the lake for the very first time! I grew up going to lakes in the summer and boating/jet skiing. I remember spending the boat rides daydreaming about someday bringing my husband and children to the lake with me. I felt the same way riding a boat with Dave for the first time as I did with Iris this summer, so much peace and happiness in my heart knowing my dreams have come true. I will never forget the days I prayed for what I have now!

Iris loved jumping off the lily pad and yelling “Bedy Fop!” (belly flop), driving the golf cart, and riding the boat. We also got to go to one of my cousins weddings that trip and Iris had a blast dancing with all the other kiddos.

I came up with this Lavender Ginger Lemonade Summer Drink Recipe on a whim when I was craving some lemonade and had a bit of fresh ginger leftover from another recipe. I decided to try lavender in the mix because I love it so much and I wanted to share this lemonade with Iris so I thought some calming lavender would be a great addition!

If you don't have fresh lavender on hand, you can always leave it out. The ginger lemonade, without the lavender, would be great for pregnant women needing morning sickness relief. I wish I would have thought to made this when I was pregnant and sooo sick...although I'm not sure I could have mustered up the energy.

This Lavender Ginger Lemonade recipe also makes a delicious popsicle for your teething baby or toddler. Iris LOVED this lemonade as a popsicle! It was fun for something different other than her usual smoothie popsicles or chamomile popsicles. If you need popsicle holders, you can find our favorites with all of our favorite toddler products.

Lavender Ginger Lemonade Summer Drink Recipe | Mallorie Owens

Ingredients ≫≫

  
1/2 cups water

lemons squeezed or peeled

grates of fresh ginger (or 1 Tbsp)

tsp fresh lavender in water

1-3 tablespoon honey

pieces of ice

    Put 1 1/2 cups of water in your blender and squeeze lemon juice into your blender (or just peel and throw the whole thing minus the peel in, if you don't mind the pulp in there...I prefer this). 

  Grate your ginger with the side of your grater or chop off about 1 Tablespoon off the end and put it in your blender. 

Microwave a coffee mug full of water for about 1:30 in the microwave and steep 3 tsp if fresh lavender until it cools. Add 1-3 Tablespoons of honey while the water is still warm and stir to dissolve (we do one or two, but if you’re used to or prefer sweeter lemonade to cut the sour lemons you’ll want more).

Put the lavender tea in the blender and add ice. Blend until the ginger and ice are completely blended and the lemonade is all liquid. Pour into a reused glass juice jar or other pitcher (I prefer jar because we don't drink ours quickly and that way it has a lid).

Cool until ready to drink, or if you're like us pour over ice and enjoy because you can't wait. Cheers!

This Lavender Ginger Lemonade would also be delicious with tequila, just sayin'. And the other day I omitted the lavender tea and added a few strawberries instead. That was REALLY calling for some rum or tequila! I won't judge.
